Welcome to the Ara Music Awards in association with APPA
This is the most prestigious music competition for primary-intermediate aged children in Australasia.
These awards not only provides a financial support towards tuition fees and replacement instruments, but also gives young people, public performance experience, feedback on their musicianship and provides a talent pool of soloists for APPA events.

The Music Competition is open to Primary / Intermediate school-age students Years 5-8 (Public, Private & home Schooled) in the Auckland Council area (Wellsford to Pukekohe) for Piano and (orchestral) stringed instruments.
Applicants must have attained at least Grade 6 level.
As has been the custom of the last decade, some of the Competition winners may be selected to pay solo performances during the Annual APPA Town Hall Festival of Music towards the end of the school year.
We would be delighted to receive applications from any of your promising students, from your school.
Applications close Sunday 6th August 2023 and need to be completed online & music uploaded as part of the online form.
There is no application fee.
